This course provides an excellent introduction to the use of a spinning wheel to transform wool fibres into yarn. With a maximum of two participants, you are assured of close attention from a tutor with wide experience in textiles. Materials and use of equipment are included in the price of the course. The course is offered as two sessions (£65 each) and you are free to choose two Fridays, two Saturdays or a Friday and a Saturday from among January 16, January 17, January 23 and January 24.

Introduction to wheels, whorls and wool.

Spinning using commercial tops, batts, and rovings.

Preparing a washed fleece.

Woolen and worsted spinning, twist and ply.
Refunds are available until January 17 provided that there is someone available to take your place. No refunds are available thereafter (in the event that only one person registers for the course their fees will, naturally, be refunded).
The course is currently scheduled to run on the upper floor of our studio, which can only be accessed by a staircase. Please contact us if that would present difficulties for you, so that we can make suitable arrangements.
