Spinning Course (February 2025) - Friday

Taught on three successive Fridays (February 7, February 14, February 21) from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, this course provides an excellent introduction to the use of a spinning wheel to transform wool fibres into yarn. With a minimum of two participants and a maximum of four, you are assured of close attention from a tutor with wide experience in textiles. Materials and use of equipment are included in the price of the course.

Week 1:

Introduction to wheels, whorls and wool. 

Spinning using commercial tops, batts, and rovings.

Week 2:

Preparing a washed fleece.

Woolen and worsted spinning, twist and ply.

Week 3:

Blending fibres and colours to create your unique skein of yarn.                

Refunds are available until January 31 provided that there is someone available to take your place. No refunds are available thereafter (in the event that only one person registers for the course their fees will, naturally, be refunded).

The course is currently scheduled to run on the upper floor of our studio, which can only be accessed by a staircase. Please contact us if that would present difficulties for you, so that we can make suitable arrangements.
